	Q: How would you define "independent" film and video today? A: As far as I know, it's a holdover term, from back when there were more apparent differences between films funded inside the Hollywood system, versus those funded independent of it. Now it's not so easy to categorize based simply on funding sources alone, as Hollywood -- to its collective credit -- has started giving money to certain more challenging films, and yet at the same time supposedly independent film funding entities now have access to much bigger budgets. But how would I define it? I don't know. Something that looks and smells different than most of what you see at your local Cineplex, I guess. back to film page
