Q: What is the relationship between you as a video/filmmaker and life in the New York Metropolitan area?
A:
I think New York does one of two things to artists. It either makes them confront life in the city head-on in a very hyper aware or awake state or it allows them to find and recreate a dream life that is not (necessarily) about escape but rather a reordering of events, images, and sounds to make a new sense or narrative of things. I think my work falls into the latter category. Additionally, New Yorkers are always pressed for time. HYPER ALARM DANCE expresses the feeling of feeling rushed, even during rest.
