Q: Do you have an interesting/ and or amusing behind-the-scenes stories about the making of this particular work?
A:
During a motion-capture shoot, one generally wears a dark, form-fitting outfit onto which are placed photo-sensitive markers on the various joints of the body, including the head. One then performs in a studio outfitted with an array of infra-red cameras that record the movement of each and all of these markers from every angle in 3-D space. A three-dimensional body is then built and manipulated so that it can be driven by the recorded mo-cap movement data like a puppet. All of this works pretty well unless you have long dreadlocks, which I do. My assistants must have created about five hair-dos and in almost every case, one of my dreads would fall down and occlude the markers, making the character headless.
