Reel NY
about this season film & video features

... HOW TO TELL YOUR FRIENDS FROM THE JAPS, Julia Cowing's tongue-in-cheek, subversive video short that takes its cue from a 1942 TIME article describing physical differences between Chinese and Japanese men.

"NYC as Landscape" (June 24) focuses on the sights and sounds of New York City from some highly unorthodox perspectives. In NAKED PAVEMENT, Joshua Tunick turns his camera on artist Spencer Tunick (no relation) as he attempts to stage one of his trademark shots: capturing 100 naked people lying on New York City pavement. In 226-1690, Richard Rogers captures moments suspended between the public and the private by combining messages left on his answering machine with footage shot from the windows of his loft. And a newer work, THE BROOKLYN PIGEON PROJECT, offers a unique and literal "bird's-eye view" of New York City's streets.
