Interview with Aldo Romero

Q: What inspired you to make this piece?

A: SIMULATOR is actually a short, condensed from the story idea from a feature length script, which is the opposite way in which one would approach the film making process. The thinking was, if I can't get millions of dollars to do it in thirty five millimeter and hire a crew, use the little finances I have available to make the best possible short with the best possible production values.

Films like THE MATRIX and TERMINATOR are obvious influences on this film. But the TWILIGHT ZONE television series, (the original Rod Serling version) was one of the main influences and the template for the short script. In some ways it finds it more challenging sometimes to make a short film because you have to condense the idea in a smaller time frame.
