The eighth season of REEL NEW YORK demonstrates the creative vitality and diversity that continues to flourish in NYC's independent film/video community. The first episode of this season, "True Originals," is a perfect example of the incredible range of creativity within the field, past and present. It includes brand new films and videos by artists working in mixed-media, documentary, photo-collage, animation, and claymation formats. From the past, we are presenting Carson Davidson's 1964 surrealist farce, "Help My Snowman's Burning Down." "Analogue Assemblage," by video innovator Nam June Paik, seems to encapsulate this entire hour as he reinvisions his 1970s experiments using current digital technologies. > page 2
