Q: What inspired you to make this piece?

A: After Father Mychal Judge died on September 11, his death became a very public thing: the famous photo of him in Newsweek, a large televised funeral Mass in St. Patrick's with eulogies by Mayor Giuliani and Fire Commissioner Von Essen. But at the wake, many of his personal friends told me how much they wanted and needed to share their personal memories of him. So several of Fr. Judge's close friends and I organized the Month's Mind service, where everyone who wanted would have a chance to get together and tell their Mychal stories. We held the memorial at the General Theological Seminary on October 11, about two hundred people were there, and for over three hours they told stories, heard Irish music, prayed and celebrated.
