Interview with Jay Corcoran |

Q: What do you think of the current state of independent filmmaking?
A: The current state is very exciting, yet frustrating. Exciting because of the accessibility of the tools. I have a camera, a computer with editing software. Because of this I get an idea, go out and shoot by myself, comeback to my home, edit and output, and viola, a new project. It's very liberating to be able to express your creativity with such tangible results. Frustrating because of the dearth of dv movies it is harder and harder to find funding and almost impossible to get on the "radar". At first just making the movie was being entrepreneurial. That part has become a cakewalk. The really entrepreneurial conundrum has become sustaining a place on the radar.
