Interview with Luke Joerger and Ray Mendez |
 |
Q: Do you have any interesting and/or amusing behind-the-scenes stories about the making of this particular work?
RM: One of the most amazing things I experienced shooting "First Person 911" was the fact that during most of my time out shooting, especially during the Ground Zero segments, I felt as if I was invisible. One of my fortes as a filmmaker is the "fly on the wall" knack that i feel (and have been told) that i have. On this day, however, I could have been "Godzilla on the wall with a video camera" and no one would have paid me any mind. I looked into the eyes of the rescue workers and saw complete "numbness".
