Interview with Luke Joerger and Ray Mendez |
 |
Q: What inspired you to make this piece?
Ray Mendez: This piece, for me, was more reactionary than anything else. Picking up my camera and skating through the city is something I do everyday. On this particular day it was my way of dealing with the circumstances and all of the emotions I felt. Sitting at home and watching television wasn't an option for me. For my own sanity I needed to go out and experience all of the madness firsthand. It was the only outlet I felt I had from going mad.
Luke Joerger: I woke up and looked out the window and the World Trade Center was on fire.
