The major defining event of this past year for New York independent video and filmmakers as well as for the public at large was, of course, September 11th. So many local video and filmmakers immediately responded to this tragic event by picking up their cameras and creating short pieces. The response was so overwhelming that it seemed imperative for REEL NEW YORK to respond in turn and offer this work as the first two episodes of our eight-week season. This is a dynamic, eclectic group of films and videos, which register a much wider spectrum of experiences and expressions about the terrorist attacks than what we have seen on television thus far.
