Q: How do you define an independent film or video?
A: I don't define independent film or video making, as such. I have always been working in the mainstream of Dutch documentary filmmaking. Either employed (like the BBC), but that is a very small proportion, or working freelance. I would rather discriminate between non-committed or non-enagaged, versus committed or socially and politically inspired. I am, as you will have gathered, in the second league.
