Q: What inspired you to make this piece?
A: Ben Katchor's comic strips eloquently communicate what I love about cities: the layers of memory behind the architectural details of crumbing buildings: the ebb and flow of life on the street, the generations of American culture that can be found in an old storefront. We wanted to make a film about the sense of adventure and inventiveness behind the stone, concrete and metal of New York City. Ben Katchor's New York is a place of unlimited possibility.
