Q: What inspired you to make this piece?
A: I had just come to New York, fresh from Antioch College, and fell in love with the city and its elevated railway. So my first film was about that, particularly when I came to understand that the real estate interests on Third Avenue were intent on destroying the el, and I was going to have to work fast.
