Q: Is there a relationship between your work as a video/filmmaker and life in the New York metropolitan area?
A: Yes. I have always liked New York. I didn't realize how much I loved the old neighborhood until I started writing the script. A recurring memory of my New York City youth was going to a local bodega with my friends every day after school. It became the thing to go to this store, rap with the couple that ran it, and go home. It was like what I think the cafe is to Paris for us kids, a necessary stop before home to get some really cheap candy and something else ...
