After 40 years spent raising generations of kids in her quiet Brooklyn neighborhood, Ruby Davis is killed by a stray bullet. Starting with the news of this tragic and untimely death, this piece brings together five women who mourn and celebrate the life of their former babysitter. Fluidly blending a "mockumentary" style with a comedic portrayal of five archetypal characters, all played by director Lisa Collins -- whitegirl wannabe, crunchy activist, inner-city homegirl, Essence Award-winning businesswoman, and post-operative transsexual entertainer -- the story subverts and explores myths of contemporary African-American womanhood while celebrating the legacies of "Miss Rubys" throughout black America.
