From the ancient cave paintings at Lasceaux in France to the subways and buildings of New York City to the boundless realm of cyberspace, graffiti has been alive and well for a long, long time. Is it art or is it vandalism? Meet some of the most important graffiti "writers" and "artists" from around the globe and hear from city residents and officials who are trying to put a stop to this burgeoning form of urban expression, including the latest practice of scratching subway windows. Using time-lapse photography, this film features the actual creation of an elaborate graffiti mural.
