Welcome to the fourth season of REEL NEW
YORK. During each of our four seasons on the air, it has been our
pleasure to present eight weeks of challenging and intriguing independent
works. They are a testament to the remarkable creativity flourishing
in the New York independent media scene today.
This is an exciting time in the electronic media field. The technology is expanding rapidly, enabling artists to work with new and different tools, and to invent original forms of expression. As artists continue to experiment, creating works unlike anything we've seen before, REEL NEW YORK strives to be there at the edge, bringing you these works -- both on your television and computer screens. With this in mind, our series has evolved to include Web art on our Web site, where you can see and interact with works utilizing computer-based technologies. Spend some time and explore the site. You will be amazed at how these fast-growing technologies are being used to produce unique and captivating works of art.
We hope you are inspired by these visions and voices, both past and present, of independent media artists working in the New York City metropolitan area. Ours is a diverse and dynamic population that never runs short of ideas or energy. We are pleased to represent this diversity and vibrancy in our series with works that are truly independent and that fulfill a personal vision, not a niche in the commercial marketplace.
