In this exquisitely edited film, a search for the picture of a woman obsesses a clerk at the Library of Congress. As if searching for a lost memory, throughout the film the audience is shown early archival film footage -- "found" footage -- which emulates the clerk's own search through the archives for his missing mistress. This obsessional piece is a kind of meditation on the nostalgia we reserve for the old silent moving images of a simpler time. The film connects interior visions with historical visions, and reflects on time and memory.
