These three shorts amusingly combine real life footage with humorous animations, opening a window into the fantasy-life of Joe Gibbons, the wacky protagonist of these character studies. Delusional moments of writing songs for the Beach Boys, playing music with Iggy Pop, and teaching Francis Ford Coppola how to make movies come to life from animated drawings emanating from Joe's head like "thought balloons" in the comics. The hand-drawn animations give a childish innocence to Gibbons' obsessions, underscoring his naivete and grand imaginings.
