This enchanting film shows a naive tourist's view of New York City. Playfully, in silent movie style, de Seve exaggerates the pleasures and the horrors of tourist travel. The protagonists are exuberant, dancing around the city, drinking up the excitement and wonder of such a cosmopolitan place. (The woman never stops bouncing to some seemingly internal rhythm!) Through the use of black and white footage, and a score of dated German "um-bah" music, this film nostalgically conjures up stereotypes of naive visitors arriving from bucolic countrysides who display an innocence and wonder at their surroundings.
