Q: What films/videos and makers have inspired you or influenced your work? And why?
A: Chris Marker has been a great inspiration to us. We find his work exciting in the way it creatively juxtaposes image and text. The voiceovers in his films engage the audience in an intellectual discourse that speaks directly about lived experience. He has an uncanny ability to bypass the typical strategies of symbol and representation that filmmakers have traditionally used. Another important filmmaker for us is Margurite Duras and her films INDIA SONG and SON NOM DE VENISE DANS CALCUTTA DESERT.
