Q: What inspired you to make this piece?
A: I think in college I had this fascination about what New York would bring -- how this city would grant my wish and make all my dreams come true. And though many of the things I wished for did come true, I still found myself doing dishes in a bar to make ends meet. It's the realization that what you have, though seemingly different in every expected way, is what you wished for.
