Q: Do you have any interesting behind-the-scenes stories about the making of this particular work?
A:
In a scene at Coney Island, Raj, the immigrant was reflecting on his experiences, tired and melancholic. It was cold -- November on Coney Island. He was smoking a biri (an Indian cigarette) in the scene. To further the realism of the scene, producer, Mark Mann, cracked the cigarette, making it impossible to light it or take a drag. When the camera was rolling, I kept stressing to light the cigarette. Of course, he couldn't do it. The cold, his emotions, and the faulty cigarette resulted in an intense performance was from a place of genuine frustration and exhaustion.
