Q: What films/videos and makers have inspired you or influenced your work? And why?
A: Too many to speak of here... But I can say that I have long been fascinated by work that blurs the boundaries between documentary and fiction. Kiarostami's CLOSE UP is a film that keeps the viewer thinking for hours about the relationship between film and life. I saw a film recently by the photographer Perry Ogden in which it was impossible to discern whether what was happening on screen was verite or scripted.
