Q: What films/videos and makers have inspired you or influenced your work? And why?

A: We are inspired by films that shed light on problems faced by the least fortunate members of society and helped us to realize how important film can be in giving a voice to these otherwise forgotten populations. Some examples of documentaries that accomplish this are Frederick Wiseman's TITICUT FOLLIES (1967), Barbara Kopple's AMERICAN DREAM (1991), and Liz Garbus' THE FARM (1998). We have also been influenced by documentary photography, like the work of Margaret Bourke White and Walker Evans, which exposed racism and poverty in the South.
