Q: What inspired you to make this piece?
A: My inspiration came from Langston Hughes' words. As a seasoned Hip Hop Culture journalist, it is my reponsibility to interview artitsts upon the release of their newest works. It had been some ome that I'd heard Langston's words popping up in several songs, however, no recognition was ever given. This troubled me. It was the year 2001 and I knew that his centennial was arriving. This led to the concept of the film.
