"Far From Home," episode four, explores the immigrant experience. SANGAM, by Prashant Bhargava, combines still photography, film and animation to tell the story of a recent immigrant from India and a disillusioned Indian American who cross paths on a subway train and are forced to confront their concept of faith amid the reality of the American Dream. THE ELEVATOR OPERATOR, a short documentary meditation on the simultaneous power of futility and hope by Jonathan Skurnik, introduces Eugene Sheiman, a Ukrainian immigrant and former Kiev journalist and published author who now runs a manual elevator in a New York office building. GAZA BOOK OF LONGING, a short by Jessica Allee, Shane Flores, and Wago Kreider, speaks to the memory of dispossession, as the sight of a solitary olive tree in the metropolis triggers a woman's yearnings for her homeland.
