(cont'd.) in Far Rockaway with a deserted 500-foot double-lane entryway to its parking lot. The second difficulty was the fact that so much of the film happened while the main actress was driving, which meant that she had to drive back and forth all day along [on] this tiny strip of road, but it worked! Last but not least, the most difficult thing about this film was its subject matter, which was, understandably, difficult for me. While I arrived at a rough cut at the end of 1998, I could not bring myself to work on the film again and complete it until nearly six years later.
