Q: Briefly tell us about how you made your film or video.

A: I made this film as a student in the Stanford University documentary program. We had approximately 10 weeks to develop, shoot, and edit a film. I used color 16 mm and shot mostly with the Bolex. All of the film, including the 8 mm footage, was then transferred to DVCAM and edited using Final Cut Pro. I start with a paper cut organized by themes as a guide and eventually start pulling out the excessive material. Being in film school was great, as we had several rounds of critiques on the work-in-progress. It really helps to see how others respond to the film during the editing process.
