A: (cont'd.) his condition, but I never felt very comfortable with it or with my brother. I continued to have misconceptions about him and I never really understood what he was going through. It was my desire to understand his experience of mental illness, to understand him, that inspired me to make the film. I also hoped that the film might allow viewers to better appreciate the experience of mental illness and that those who are mentally ill are not, despite their often different behavior, the "other" and just as human as anyone else.
