A: (cont'd.) I also made SLUMMING IT at a time when many people felt New York was being washed of all of its grittiness. The cleaning up of Times Square is one example. While this is admittedly a very complicated issue, my film ultimately asks: What happens to the fabric of New York when we lose places like the Bowery?
