Q: What films/videos and makers have inspired you or influenced your work? And why?
A: Agnès Varda, especially THE GLEANERS AND I, [for] the personal narrative approach to documentary, the integrity of her commitment to theme, and her beautiful, poetic sensibility. Fellini, especially JULIET OF THE SPIRITS and LA STRADA, for his fanciful and inspired approach to metaphor, his brilliant and surreal use of sound and lighting, and most especially for the incomparable Giulietta Masina, as well as his wonderful sense of casting physicality and his commitment to understanding the character of the Fool archetype.
