Q: What is the relationship between your work as a video/filmmaker and life in the New York metropolitan area?
A: New York has always been a source of great inspiration. I have lived for the past 10 years on the Lower East Side -- largely attracted to the ethnic diversity and cultural history of the area. I have watched the neighborhood change with the rapid gentrification that is sweeping Lower Manhattan. The Latino population is diminishing due to increased rents; the bodegas are fast being replaced by expensive boutiques and chain stores; old tenement buildings are being torn down and replaced with luxury apartments.
