A:
(cont'd.) about 11 years, [and] I heard about Kimrie's budding acting career through her. When Carol died, I didn't know if Kimrie would be able to handle a shoot that was just a few weeks away -- in a script talking about how she was fighting with her mother. It was Kimrie's grandmother who told me Kimrie brought my script to the hospital every day, and she would be ready. At our production meeting days before the interior shoot, my wonderful production designer, Charlena Pearson, mentioned that we should have pictures around the brownstone of the character who is being talked about off screen -- Ruby's mother. I said, "That makes total sense. In fact, let's put Carol's pictures up. I want that for Kimrie." And the stage was set.
