Q: What inspired you to make this piece?
A:
I saw the "lightning" footage from the film archive at the Schenectady Museum -- lightning striking the Empire State Building from the 1930s and 1940s. The strikes were documented as research at GE. They were also working with man-made lightning in the High Voltage Laboratory. É I was frightened when I saw the footage of the lightning experiments. It brought back something about September 11th; it hit a nerve. I realized it made me feel vulnerable about New York City and protective and angry about the facts that are being hidden by the government. I wanted to explore all this.
