Q: What is the relationship between your work as a video/filmmaker and life in the New York metropolitan area?
A: New York has made some of my nonfiction work, such as PARIS IS BURNING, possible, because of the people and culture and the life and vitality that exist here. New York has also fed my fiction work, as there's such a great collection of talent in New York. For WHO'S THE TOP?, where else would I have been able to find a Broadway choreographer and 24 dancers willing to work just for the glory of indie film?
