Q: What is the relationship between your work as a video/filmmaker and life in the New York metropolitan area?
A:
The question for me is larger: What's the relationship of my life as a citizen and observer of life in NYC? I lived in the LES during 9/11. I have experienced the city heal with its usual moxie and also transmute into an outlying port of the New America. We have our share of jingoism that parades side by side on the sidewalks with resistant individuality. I grew up here and love this place. It's smart, obnoxious, frank, and funny. It's a tough, resilient, and self-possessed place, but I've been party to and partaken in the fear tremors that [a] Code Orange is intended to produce.
