The new season opens with NY X 10, an hour of 10 short works created specifically to celebrate REEL NEW YORK's 10th anniversary. Participating filmmakers include Greg Pak, Marina Zurkow, Jem Cohen, Jennie Livingston, Michael Britto, Todd Downing, Edin Velez, Kathy High, Nicole Franklin, and Kimi Takesue.
The second episode is also a paean to New York. CLASSIC NEW YORK is devoted to vintage New York films from the 1940s, '50s, and '60s that capture the city's strange beauty and singular character. It begins with the broadcast premiere of William Klein's first film, BROADWAY BY LIGHT (1958), which was inspired in part by criticisms of his landmark book LIFE IS GOOD AND GOOD FOR YOU IN NEW YORK: TRANCE WITNESS REVELS. ...
