Lone Star

Saturday, August 8th, 2009 at 9 pm on THIRTEEN

Lone Star (1996) follows several interwoven stories across three generations in a Texas border town marked by a history of racial conflict. Central to the film is Sheriff Sam Deeds’s discovery of a skeleton in the desert—the skeleton, he believes, of one of his predecessors who was run out of town decades ago. As Sam investigates the stories surrounding his predecessor’s last days, he must separate reality from myth and delve into his own family’s role in the town’s convoluted and often violent history. Starring Chris Cooper, Elizabeth Peña, Kris Kristofferson and Matthew McConaughey. Written and directed by John Sayles.

I did not convert to digital, therefore, I am elated to find reel 13 online. As a young girl, I watched “Saturday Night at the Bijou” on network Ch.5 in NYC;it presented old classics during the 1970’s prior to the movie rental age- I treasured that time. Please find the types of movies, (James Cagney, Jimmy Stewart, Mae West, Carol Lombard; Betty Davis, Gary Cooper, etc. and add them to your Saturday night lineup. You will get raves from those in their late 30’s and 40’s who remember that program, as well as our elders who lived through that golden age of film.

No channel 13 on my flat screen; only on the ‘converter box’ TV.
Why? Most frustrating…..terrible; dismaying; very unhappy!!! Love
Reel 13 – but giving up on getting Channel 13. Too sad. Too bad H
