What a great conversation. I learned a lot!

I cannot understand why neither R. Pena nor M. Feinstein made any reference to Judy Garland as originally cast in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN when it was aired this past Saturday night. She not only had recorded the soundtrack, but also had filmed a couple of the numbers……CAN’T GET A MAN WITH A GUN, DOIN’ WHAT COMES NATURALLY and I’M AN INDIAN TOO. Betty Hutton. who was basically fine in the part, was nonetheless second choice after Garland who was not in any mentally fit condition at the time to carry on with the filming. It seems to me that “historians” in giving information about such things, that is if they have the information, should divulge all aspects of the background material, especially with respect to one so legendary as Judy Garland. It came off as though Betty Hutton was the first and only choice for the role of Annie, and it baffled me as to why the facts about Garland were omitted.
