The road movie is a staple of American cinema, but there are plenty of great international examples.
What’s your favorite international “road movie?” Richard Pena likes Alain Tanner’s Messidor (1979) and Wim Wenders’ False Movement (1975).

“Le Grand Voyage” which has also been shown as a Reel 13 independent film is among my favorites in this genre.

Not sure its my favorite, but I did love last year’s Michael Winterbottom film The Trip with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon. Funny and biting, like most Michael Winterbottom and Steve Coogan films. Think a British (or Scottish) Sideways with food instead of wine.

My favorite road film is “Two for the Road” with Albert Finney & Audrey Hepburn – I hope you will show sometime soon. It goes deep into the relationship, while also showing a beautiful backdrop.
