What is your favorite Sylvester Stallone performance? Neal Gabler thinks the original Rocky (1976) was Stallone’s best.

Excuse me “JC,” but the first Rambo film was actualy called “First Blood.” But one film of his I really liked was Cop Land – a nice small scale drama about a cop in small town NJ.

Yeah, I’ll admit I really enjoy films from Mr. Stallone but I’m choosing Daylight (late 90′s film). It’s a NY/NJ disaster type of movie,and what those undergroud tunnels really look like. WOW ! It keeps you on the edge of your seat (and that’s what makes it fun for me.

I think Mr. Stallone is an underrated actor. He’s pretty good, given the right material. He’s made some very good movies, as well as some stinkers.

I agree that his best performance is in the original Rocky. But I like a number of his films, in particular, in addition to the original Rocky, Nighthawks and Rocky IV.

And let’s not forget his voice work in Liberty’s Kids. His Paul Revere is not out of place among a stellar cast of voices (although my personal favorite is Dustin Hoffman as Benedict Arnold).

I am not a fan but I thought he was terrific in Copland. He actually acted and showed he could do more than the action movies over and over again!

All 6 Rocky films are his best work. People laugh when reminded that he was nominated for an Academy Award for his acting. Sky’s Rocky character was very likable character and Stallone’s made you feel his pains and struggles as well as rooting for him in the boxing ring. He appears to some as a simpleton, but in truth he is genius. He wrote all the Rocky movies and took home the Best Picture Oscar for the first Rocky. If the Rocky movies were never made, then I would have cited First Blood as his best.
