What is your favorite political film? Why?
My favorite political film has to be “Z.”
I saw it when it first appeared in theatres and it has stayed with me. Dramatic. Powerful.
Whenever I discuss films with anyone who has seen it, no matter how long ago, they generally agree that it is the best film they have ever seen.
All The President’s Men is a classic. Even though you know what’s going to happen, its tension-filled and keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Mine is His Girl Friday. I serves up as comedy gender politics, political corruption and media sell-out, against a backdrop of unemployment and personal desperation for a lack of meaning. Moments of stillness amid the frenzy, highlight the subversion of values: even gestures of human decency (much less love) don’t stand a chance. It’s an eye and ear full of bitter but hilarious satire. And Cary Grant and Rosiland Russell are brilliant.
