What is your favorite film that deals with the subject of mental illness? Reel 13 Classics host Neal Gabler picks Ignmar Bergman’s 1966 psycho-thriller Persona. How about you?
Frances, with Jessica Lange
An Angel at My Table
“Cuckoo’s Nest” and “David & Lisa”
Probably Cuckoo’s Nest and Persona. But Frances is also up there. For a more recent film check out A Dangerous Method.
I forgot “Taxi Driver”
“Donny Darko” and “Momento” are two of my favorites. But you can’t rule out “White Heat” either.
A Beautiful Mind because it is so entrenched in reality, powerful and surprising. A shrink was surprised when I asked her, as a movie topic, how she knew that he didn’t just imagine winning the Nobel. She was too into the real story and ignored that novel possibility. )
I have to say MY Favorite is Cookoo’s nest! The second is that one with Dehaviland [G*D I can't spell!!!]The third is the one with Joanne Woodward!!!
The Jacket is by far the best movie.
“Psycho” — there is no other than the first audacious film about true mental illness
