Myrna Loy and William Powell

Myrna Loy and William Powell

William Powell and Myrna Loy were a great film team. What is your favorite movie team? For Neal Gabler, Reel 13 Classics host, it is a very hard choice between the teams of Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers and William Powell/Myrna Loy.

    Laurel and Hardy.

more recent and might not be as “high class” but David Spade and the late, great Chris Farley made some seriously funny films (Black Sheep, Tommy Boy)

  • Martin Stumacher

My favorite film duo is Jeannette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy. To hear their beautiful voices in film after film was absolutely magic. They are as popular today and they were in the Golden Age of Films.

Powell and Loy, who could ask for anything more?

But when it comes to S-I-Z-Z-L-E no one beat Mitchum and Russell. I remember seeing His Kind of Woman and thinking, what a team! Then much later I saw them in a Private Screenings interview with Robert Osborne on Turner Classic Movies and confirmed what I had suspected, they were class acts all the way!

Bogart and Bacall do it for me – with Powell and Loy coming in a close second. The chemistry between those two wasn’t merely obvious … it was hard to ignore.

    Great acting, and hilarious couple.
