DIRTY PRETTY THINGS takes in inside look at the harsh realities of immigration, a universal phenomenon in today’s world. What’s your favorite contemporary immigration film?

Richard Peña recommends Philippe Lioret’s WELCOME (a Reel 13 indie!) – he feels film offers an interesting, moving approach to the subject.

I saw Dirty Pretty Things on DVD but was glad to see it again tonight. I loved this film and everyone involved in its making. My other favorite film about immigration is The Visitor which I also saw on DVD>

    Golden Venture
    Hester Street

    In America
    Lost Boys of Sudan
    Maria Full of Grace
    Mississippi Masala
    Sin Nombre
    Sugar
    The Terminal

Two films by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu have immigration themes. They are Babel and Biutiful. Also, a film out in theaters now, A Better Life, is about immigrants.
