All About Eve (1950)

Many people consider ALL ABOUT EVE to be Bette Davis’s finest performance.  What is your favorite Bette Davis performance?

Neal Gabler calls it a tie between ALL ABOUT EVE and THE LITTLE FOXES.

All About Eve is my favorite film, and Bette is certainly at the top of her game (as is everyone involved). I think the only performance of hers that rivals this one is The Letter.

Bette Davis’ performance in “All About Eve” is one of the great performances; it is inconceivable that she didn’t win an Oscar for it.

Betty Davis,in my book, has many favorites. For starters,”Now Voyager”. She goes on a cruise she falls in love with Jerry, who’s already married, and transforms from a frump to elegant independent lady. Simply romantic! Then their’s ‘Dark Victory, The Old Maid, The Great Lie. To quote Betty Davis in Now Voyager,”Don’t let’s ask for the moon we have the star’s”. My suggestion, any Betty Davis film is alright with me.

As Charlotte Hollis” in “Hush…Hush, Sweet Charlotte. I was eleven the first time I saw it. Scared the living daylights out of me.

Davis spelled her name with an E. BettE Davis. Favorite performances? Three way tie: Now, Voyager – Dark Victory – The Letter.

…and still Thirteen has not corrected the spelling of Ms. Davis’ first name.
