Pat and Mike

Pat and Mike

Synopsis:

Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy are the titular duo in this bubbly comedy set in the world of sports. Pat is a well-to-do athlete who chokes whenever her fiancé watches her play. Mike is a grizzled sports promoter who sees something “cherce” in this female dynamo. The chemistry is palpable as Mike’s interest becomes more than just professional. Covering boxing, golf, and everything in between, Pat and Mike turn sports culture upside down in the seventh of Tracy and Hepburn’s legendary collaborations.

Directed by: George Cukor (1899 – 1983)

George Cukor was born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, and it was there that he developed a love of storytelling that would lead to Hollywood. Starting out as a theater director, Cukor won national acclaim with a 1926 stage adaptation of The Great Gatsby. He went to Hollywood and, after working as a “dialogue director,” was hired by David Selznick at RKO. Cukor went on to direct classics like The Philadelphia Story, Adam’s Rib, A Star Is Born, and My Fair Lady. He is regarded as one of the first “actor’s directors.”

watching a good movie does not require brain surgery. if it makes you show emotion then it’s a good movie.
