Who is William Lloyd Garrison?

After moving from his hometown of Newburyport, Massachusetts, to Boston, William Lloyd Garrison set out to persuade the American public that slavery was wrong. In 1831, with the help of the black community, he founded what would become the most influential abolitionist publication, "The Liberator." He continued to publish this newspaper until 1865 with the ratification of the 13th amendment.
